Big Tomato Goes Big on Exporting Creamware

Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, UK- based Big Tomato Company was founded by Gloria Daniel. Since 2003, Big Tomato Company have manufactured award winning, modern English creamware in the heart of the Staffordshire Potteries selling to over 400 leading design and lifestyle stores worldwide.
Gloria will be sharing her story at an upcoming conference to encourage more women-led enterprises to export. Exports at the business have gone from being 7.5 per cent of turnover in 2011 to around 17.5 per cent today.
Gloria says, “Before we started exporting, the biggest barriers to looking at overseas markets were probably psychological.”
The Department for Business Innovation and Skills’ (BIS) small business survey in 2012, found 18 per cent of businesses are women-led, about 860,000 SMEs.
