Hope Not Fear: Women's Marches Go Global
The Women’s March on Washington has sparked rallies worldwide. The event had been organized to express solidarity with the aims of the original march: opposition to USA President Trump’s agenda (think of it as a counter inauguration after Trump took office), and support of women’s rights and human rights in general.
Begun as a Facebook post just after the election, the march is the start of what organizers hope could be a sustained campaign of protest in a polarized America, unifying demonstrators around issues like reproductive rights, immigration and civil rights. Source: The New York Times
