The Buck Stops in Barbados With Women Who Export
Two winning entrepreneurs from a Women’s Entrepreneurship Day breakfast hosted in Barbados, Nadaline Cummings of Caribbean E-Waste Management and Marcia Weekes of Step By Step Productions, are pioneers in exporting in non-traditional sectors. Take Marcia, for example:
Marcia Weekes is a pioneer in the film industry in Barbados, producing films through her company, Step by Step Productions, since 2008. Her first film,Hush, played to thousands of secondary school students in Barbados and to sold-out crowds at the Olympus Theatres. She had similar success with her Hush 2 and Hush 3 movies, and her movie Chrissy was nominated for Best International Film at the Bronze Lens Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. She has exported her films to the Caribbean and the diaspora.
Congratulations to both award winners. We are very proud of you!
What this tells us is that whether it is Marcia in Barbados or Mary from Chicago, women are ready to export and only need knowledge and access to markets to go beyond the borders. WEGG will provide both.
Don’t forget to sign up for more information on our first WEGG webinar “Getting Started in Exporting: Ready Your Business for Growth” on Jan. 6, 2016.
