wegg® Global Perspective Series (GPS): Trump, Tariffs and Legal Issues

On Friday, December 13, 2024, wegg® hosted Joe Maher, Partner at Nixon Peabody to give a presentation on “Trump, Tariffs and Legal Issues.”  He was introduced by wegg® board member Ela Baio, Partner / Co-Lead, International & Foreign Associate Network IP Team, Nixon Peabody.  I [Laurel Delaney] moderated the program, which had many women inventors and business owners who came with pressing questions relating to the impact of tariffs on their businesses.  In general, Joe covered options to manage vulnerability to tariffs and more.  Some specific points he covered are as follows:

• What drives decision-making on tariffs
• Who has the legal authority to set and raise tariffs
• Legal checks on the imposition of tariffs
