Women Entrepreneurs and the Importance of Mental Health
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Women’s Health Awareness Month, so we thought it would be an optimal time to focus in on how these themes intersect with what it means to be global women entrepreneurs. In an increasingly tumultuous economic and political time, taking stock of your personal reserves, boundaries, and limitations as an entrepreneur is vital. Last year’s Psychology Today publication “How to Navigate Challenges as a Woman Entrepreneur,” described how the stress that business owners face daily shows in the numbers, as “According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), 72% of entrepreneurs are affected by mental health issues, compared to 48% of non-entrepreneurs.” With these staggering statistics as a baseline, it is only a wonder what those levels are averaging out to in our current times, as rising tariffs and instability run rampant.
