Women Have Big Global Aspirations

According to Bruce Billson, former Minister for Small Business and brand ambassador for Efic, the Australian Government’s export credit agency, female exporters have three key traits:

  1. They have big ambitions
  2. They draw on life experience to navigate new markets
  3. They persevere to overcome barriers

He goes on to say:

While their business operations may have started small, their aspirations were big. Having confidence and belief that you can scale and expand your business in new markets is important when setting out to build an export business.

What Motivates Women in Global Business?

An organization by the name of Women in Global Business (WIGB), established December 2010, is aligning with the University of Melbourne in a research project aimed to determine what motivates and shapes Australian businesswomen’s international engagement.

The research will address who is undertaking activities and where, as well as what barriers women may encounter and what mechanisms are used to achieve success.
