Are Women Willing to Wait As Long As 170 Years to Establish Parity with Men?
According to the latest report by the World Economic Forum (WEF), women may have to wait as long as 170 years to establish parity with men when it comes to pay and employment opportunities. Who needs that? It is a fact that no country in the world has closed its gender gap. The only way around this barrier is for women to start more businesses, and here at WEGG, we hope with our help they take them global.
Take the UK, for example, where in an effort to ramp up women starting businesses, they are working with Facebook and Enterprise Nation, a network of small businesses, to deliver training to 10,000 women business owners across the country. Facebook claims that only 20 percent of the country’s 5.4 million small businesses are currently started by women.
What the ultimate goal here? To give women access to new online and offline training resources to provide them with the digital skills and mobile tools necessary to grow their business.
It is a well-quoted figure that equality for women in the labour force would add $28 trillion to the global economy by 2025.
