Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month
“We can choose to be a character in a story written out by someone else, or we can choose to be the author of our own story.”
-Ruby Garcia
We would like to wish our wegg® community a Happy Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month! The National Hispanic Heritage Month site states, “[this month] traditionally honors the cultures and contributions of both Hispanic and Latino Americans as we celebrate heritage rooted in all Latin American countries.” This commemorative month runs from September 15th-October 15th, and the theme of the 2023 celebration is, “Building Prosperous and Healthy Communities.” You can read more about what each week represents in this article from the U.S. Department of Education.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has published a write-up that describes the historic period that Hispanic Entrepreneurs are amidst right now,
“According to the Joint Economic Committee Hispanic Entrepreneurship and Business Brief, the nearly 5 million Hispanic-owned businesses across the U.S. generate more than $800 billion for the American economy annually. Nearly one in four new businesses is Hispanic-owned, and those businesses are making huge impacts in their communities and beyond.”
It is important to champion Hispanic-owned enterprises and companies all year long, and the months of September and October present optimal opportunities to do so. We have also compiled the below resources for your reference and enrichment,
