Incorporating the Rules of Success into Professional and Personal Worlds
“Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently.”
-Marie Forleo, Entrepreneur, Writer and Philanthropist
Any entrepreneur can tell you that navigating and maintaining a work/life balance when running a global business is an ongoing challenge no matter what stage of the journey they are in. Women entrepreneurs are especially spread thin, as the responsibilities of their home life often fall to them regardless of what their professional life demands of them. In an article published this week from Entrepreneur, Sunny Dublick maps out ways that entrepreneurs can enhance their lives inside and outside of their work. In “How Entrepreneurs Can Apply the 7 Laws of Success to Their Business and Personal Life,” she outlines methods for which the author Deepak Chopra’s The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success can be utilized to strengthen and enhance both the business practices and familial unit for entrepreneurs.
Dublick’s thesis for her write-up reads,
“I feel that so much of business is associated with greed, scarcity and pressure right now. Yet the brands that are succeeding are living out values and beliefs that resonate with people on a personal level. Reading Deepak’s laws I kept thinking — what if we applied these in the office and made ourselves better in the process?”
The qualities that make us human are the qualities that make us relatable. Incorporating lived experiences with entrepreneurial acumen instead of pretending we are all unfeeling robots can aid in the reach and expertise of an enterprise for a mogul. The relationships and roles of parent, friend, sibling, and child that tie us to others are strengths and not weaknesses distracting us from business.
Chopra’s laws that Dublick draws on are:
- The law of pure potentiality
- The law of giving
- The law of karma
- The law of least effort
- The law of intention and desire
- The law of detachment
- The law of dharma
