Prefer Entrepreneurship to a 9 to 5? More Women Than Ever Before Do
Entrepreneurship means being your own boss, and women are doing just that at the highest rates in history. As a trusted resource to women taking their enterprises global, wegg® is in awe of this upward trend. As Black Enterprise reported last week, “An increasing number of women are choosing entrepreneurship over traditional employment, seeking greater flexibility, financial autonomy, and long-term wealth-building opportunities, according to Forbes…Wells Fargo’s 2026 Impact of Women-Owned Businesses Report found that women own 15.7 million businesses nationwide, representing 40.6% of all firms.” This shows that women are prioritizing their agency, flexibility, and dreams. Feeling the freedom to bet on yourself and take a risk is never a small decision, and the benefits of women entrepreneurship ripples across the economic landscape, as “women-owned firms contribute billions of dollars annually to the U.S. economy and employ millions of workers nationwide.”
An additional interesting insight is that women ‘solopreneurs,’ or those starting a business on their own, is also on the rise. Inc. spoke on this last month, citing that, “Nearly half of all women entrepreneurs run their businesses solo. That’s more than twice the 19-percent rate for men. Running a business on your own affects everything: resources, support, risk tolerance, and how quickly the business can grow.” Women depending on themselves is not new, but wegg hopes all women in business know they are never truly alone, as we are here for you at every step in your journey.
Being able to turn to those around you is necessary, as “When the pressure builds, 57 percent of women entrepreneurs say they lean on friends or family. Another 66 percent turn to exercise or physical activity, and one in five seek professional therapy or counseling.” Having a support system is essential, and wegg would be honored to be a part of yours.
