When Women Succeed, The Whole World is Uplifted

The Dollar Business spoke with Katherine B. Hadda, the US Consul General in Hyderabad on a wide range of topics – from the GES 2017 to strengthening Indo-US ties.  Two key questions addressed:

  1. The Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 (GES 2017), is expected to be a game changer for Indian businesses. What significance does it hold for you and what are your expectations?
  2. In GES 2017, we understand about 50% of the delegates are expected to be women entrepreneurs, out of a total of about 400 entrepreneurs from India and the US. What according to you does the participant composition signify about Indo-US women-led entrepreneurial ties?

Learn more about when women succeed, the whole world is uplifted.

GES: Keen to Support Women Entrepreneurs In Every Possible Way

The “Road to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) Series in Odisha, India,” brings together industry leaders, start-ups, serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors as well as enablers of the innovation ecosystem such as government, international agencies and industry associations not only from India but across the globe.  One of the top areas of focus is on women entrepreneurship and gender equality.

The leading woman entrepreneur of the state, Odisha Television Network Director Jagi Mangat Panda, says:

“The most important part of women empowerment is to create an entrepreneurial culture which can only happen if issues concerning women are addressed at the grassroots level. There are gender biases and stereotypes that are so deeply entrenched in our society that a simple passage of a law will not be able to take care of it, rather some extraordinary efforts have to be taken.”

The Upside Potential of an Interconnected World

TheUpsideOfAnInterconnectedWorld

At a recent Global Entrepreneurship Summit at Stanford University, President Barack Obama says people succeed and communities prosper when they have the skills and resources needed to start their own businesses [and go global we might add!].

Women, minorities and those “locked out” by the existing social order, which the president described as “people who aren’t part of the old boy’s network,” can become empowered entrepreneurs when they can turn their ideas into reality, he said.

He added:  “I believe all of you represent the upside of an interconnected world.”

Female Entrepreneurs Are Critical for Building a Stronger Economy

GlobalWomenEntrepreneurs

Below is a great interview that Jeremy Quittner, Staff Writer for Inc. and Inc.com conducted with Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker at the recent Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Morocco.  They talk about immigration reform, why female entrepreneurs are critical for building a stronger economy, and how businesses can be agents for change.

Here’s one remark she makes in the interview:

What I am struck by is issues that I hear women talk to me about throughout my career, and the ones I am hearing women talk about here at this conference are the same. They are: How do I manage my time? How do I get better access to capital? I need a mentor. Where do I get an education? Or, I can’t afford to get an MBA because I need to build my business, so I need access to online education, or quick education. These are the same questions asked around the world.

Note: This is why in 2015 we are going to start offering online training to help women entrepreneurs grow.  Meanwhile, take a look at WEDAY.
