Thank you for your readership and active engagement to wegg®. We also thank our sponsors because without them, our progress would not nearly be as great.  Oh, and need we give a shout out to our wegg team?  Of course!  Put your hands together and let’s applaud them too.  They make wegg sing and dance and help women expand businesses beyond borders.

Best wishes for a new year filled with joy, pushing boundaries, good health and prosperity. Connect with you on January 9th at our next wegginar®!

A Worldly Woman’s Visual Perspective

We salute women every week here at our WEGG blog but to honor Women’s History Month, we decided to feature female photo journalists from around the world.

TIME reached out globally to the most acclaimed female photojournalists, curators and directors of photography in the industry, asking them to select one female photojournalist that they believe is worthy of recognition.

The result will astonish you because it is a collection of brilliant work. The list unearths some diamonds in the rough so that you can get to know the artists better and start to monitor their progress.

Happy Moments in Our World

Sometimes you just have to capture a moment and this was one of those times.  I was hanging out by the Chicago lakefront last Saturday evening, it was early, when this group (pictured) arrived out of nowhere in a long white stretch limo.

They jumped out of the vehicle and walked carefully to the rocks by the waterfront.  Some fresh air was needed but now in hindsight, I wonder if they were gazing at those fabulous clouds.  I don’t know if it was a wedding or some other sort of special occasion they were celebrating.  Needless to say, I should have asked someone in the party for their contact info because if I were the woman in the stunning green dress, I would want this photo.  There was absolutely no other photographer in sight.

So for all the women around the world who can identify with happy moments like this — enjoy.  And who knows, maybe the woman pictured will discover herself on this blog and contact me!

Visualizing Cultures: A Historical Look at Shiseido

Selling Shiseido

Cosmetics Advertising & Design in Early 20th-Century Japan

by Gennifer Weisenfeld

The Shiseido cosmetics company opened its Western-style pharmaceutical business in Tokyo in 1872 and a few decades later, under the banner of its stylish camellia logo and signature arabesque designs, emerged as one of the leading cosmetics manufacturers in Japan, a position it still holds over a century later.

This essay draws on Shiseido’s vast archives, focusing on the marketing of concepts of modern beauty from the 1920s through 1943.  Be sure to read and appreciate the detailed sources, resources and credit.

Hello World, It’s Icy Cold in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A.

Thought you would appreciate these stunning photos I captured today at the lakefront in Rogers Park (seven miles North of downtown Chicago), Illinois, U.S.A.  As cold as it is today (upper 20s), with the sun shining bright, it makes for a magnificent day to take a crisp walk, ice skate or downhill ski.

Wherever you are in the world, we say “hello” and  hope you are enjoying your weekend.  Back with you soon.
