Meet Bob Marovich, wegg® Director of Development

Bob Marovich, Director of Development, wegg®, is one mighty talented individual. He has spent three decades in nonprofit fund development for colleges and universities, secondary schools, museums, public broadcasters, animal welfare agencies, social service agencies, out-of-school programs, and healthcare.  His skills include grantwriting, annual fund, major and planned giving, and strategic planning.

Beyond wegg fund development, Bob is also a gifted author.  He has written about and reviewed classic and contemporary gospel music since the mid-1990s.  His book, “A City Called Heaven,” received the Certificate of Merit for Best Historical Research in Recorded Blues, Gospel, Soul, or R&B, Association for Recorded Sound Collections (ARSC), 2016.

If that is not enough, he also is an award-winning radio host through “Gospel Memories” on Chicago’s WLUW 88.7 FM and founder and editor-in-chief of The Journal of Gospel Music,

Bob holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

Needless to say we are lucky to have Bob on board with us!  The photo above is Bob seated at the vendor table (before the show opened) at the 4th Annual Global Small Business Forum held in Chicago on Friday, October 19, 2018.  wegg was a partner at the event and it was the first time we reserved a vendor table at a global business event.

A Worldly Woman’s Visual Perspective

We salute women every week here at our WEGG blog but to honor Women’s History Month, we decided to feature female photo journalists from around the world.

TIME reached out globally to the most acclaimed female photojournalists, curators and directors of photography in the industry, asking them to select one female photojournalist that they believe is worthy of recognition.

The result will astonish you because it is a collection of brilliant work. The list unearths some diamonds in the rough so that you can get to know the artists better and start to monitor their progress.

Emirati Women Reaching Higher Levels of Excellence

The Emirati youth are establishing small and medium businesses, which contribute highly in developing the economic and social sector of the nation.  Many are thinking broadly and away from formal employment.

Ameera Binkaram, Deputy Chairperson of Nama and Chairperson of Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC), stated, during the recent 1020 Exhibition for entrepreneurs:

Female entrepreneurs had proven, over the years, that they were well-qualified to manage successful business projects. “Today, we witness an important shift to a level of management based on innovation, and we expect that Emirati women will reach higher levels of excellence,” she said.

For Real? Trade Development Authority of Pakistan Promotes Business Women

Screen Shot 2014-01-18 at 8.59.01 PM

Is this for real?  It’s hard to say because one cannot shake this upsetting article about the abusive treatment of women in Pakistan published by The Atlantic.  Regardless, the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is organizing a large exhibition WEXNET 2014 for the promotion of business women of the country.

This initiative aims to enhance their capacity building in exports and to provide them a platform to showcase their products before national and international buyers.

The event takes places from March 21-23, 2014.  Learn more here.  Visit:  Directory of Women Exporters (WE).  If any of you attend, please comment here and let us know how it goes, thanks.

Chicago Goes Turkish

Had a chance to stop in at the Chicago Turkish Festival – wonderful with all the delightful trinkets, beautiful glassware (24-carat gold trimmed) and delicious food.  I’m hoping that many women from Turkey have a chance to export their products to the United States.  Visit website here:  Chicago Turkish Festival (May 31 – June 1).

To all visitors from Turkey – loved it all.  Please come back and visit us again next year!
