wegg® ADDS PORTLAND PET FOOD COMPANY FOUNDER KATIE MCCARRON TO ITS BOARD
Chicago – November 7, 2022: Women Entrepreneurs Grow Global® (wegg®) has appointed Katie McCarron, founder and “Top Dog” at Portland Pet Food Company, to its board of directors, wegg® President Laurel Delaney announced today.
“Not only will Katie’s entrepreneurial mindset benefit wegg in many ways,” Delaney added, “but her in-the-trenches experience will inform and inspire the many women who turn to wegg for guidance on global growth.”
“I am thrilled to serve on the wegg board,” McCarron said. “I look forward to sharing with wegg and its growing community of business owners the lessons I’ve learned along the way, especially in ecommerce and exporting.”
A Chicago-based nonprofit organization, wegg delivers affordable and accessible education to women business owners and entrepreneurs seeking to sell their products and services worldwide. As a board member, McCarron will provide guidance on wegg®’s strategy, ensure adequate resources to advance its mission, provide insight, manage risks, and identify women who desire to accelerate business growth through exports.
wegg Chief Operating Officer Bob Marovich praised McCarron, who recently received the State of Oregon’s Emerging Exporter of the Year award. “I’m not surprised Katie earned this honor,” Marovich said. “She leads by example, and that is what wegg is all about. She is an ideal role model for our constituents and will push us to perform at our very best.”
McCarron joins an extraordinary group of female business owners and leaders on wegg’s board, including Delaney, Elizabeth (Ela) W. Baio, Molly Bañuelos, Linda Bi, Candace Fletcher, Mara Hedgecoth, Genevra Knight, Susan Meyer, Lori Novak, Hannah Slaughter, Nancy Slack Stachnik, Kati Suominen and Candice Tal.
Further, McCarron joins wegg as the organization launches an online environment called Club wegg®. This interactive community was designed exclusively for women business owners, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders who have an unshakeable commitment to grow their businesses worldwide. Club wegg members make valuable connections, share experiences, swap resources, and seek advice to make the leap from local to global.
Club wegg also houses Cohorts 1 and 2, professionally-facilitated monthly virtual platforms for women entrepreneurs whose enterprises have a minimum annual revenue base of $500,000 and have potential of global expansion. The groups meet monthly for 2 hours to investigate strategies, gather perspectives, discuss current issues affecting global business, and gain inspiration from one another.
Small businesses interested in participating in Cohort 2 can email Laurel Delaney at ldelaney@womenentrepreneursgrowglobal.org for more information.
