Today we are featuring a practical article from former TV host Jaeny Baik on 10 tips for creating compelling video blogging for your business.  Video-blogging is a great global marketing tool for websites because people the world over have a voracious appetite for videos. Here’s a glimpse of Jaeny’s first tip:

1. Keep it simple. You don’t need fancy equipment — your smartphone will do. For brief video blogs, you can record on your smartphone — get an adapter to put it on a tripod so you can have both hands free. While you can record sound without an external mic if you’re within arm’s length, you could add a microphone that works with your smartphone. And you can use iMovie or YouTube’s editing or other basic editing software on your smartphone to make quick edits and post to your YouTube channel.

If you do not have video-blogging in place for your business, you better get on it:

But entrepreneurs and small businesses lacking the resources to commission professional videos risk being left behind in a trend that, according to Cisco, is projected to see video comprise more than two-thirds of all global mobile data traffic by 2018. – Source:  “Entrepreneurs learn to create videos a must-have for website marketing

Start Thinking About How to Use a Mobile App to Grow Your Business

Apps help you grow a business.

The use of mobile phones is used for a whole lot of purposes including internet surfing and online buying and selling. Over the last few years the striking development in communication technology has made it possible for each and everyone to make use of mobile phones.  Are you?

The competitive market has made it absolutely important for even the small and medium scale business organizations to make the best possible use of the latest technology in order to stay afloat in the market. This is where mobile app companies gain more importance. These companies have made it possible for even the small scale business organizations with a little capital to gain a global exposure.

As I say in my new book, Exporting:  The Definitive Guide to Selling Abroad Profitably, apps provide connectivity power and global reach.  (If you bought the book, and I’m hoping you have, refer to chapter 9, “The Mobile World at Work” where I discuss mobile commerce and computing, apps, and cloud computing.  All of these allow you to continue to build your brand, find and service new customers, engage and deepen your user base relationships, and grow revenues and profitability through exports.)

Africa’s Untapped Resource: Women

Ella Peinovich (pictured lower right) is one of the three founders of Kenyan-based SasaAfrica, a women owned and operated social enterprise — offering an innovative e-commerce platform for female artisans, vendors and entrepreneurs in Africa to create sustainable micro-enterprises using mobile phones.

How We Made It in Africa talks with Ella about social entrepreneurship and Africa’s untapped resource:  women.

How did the idea for SasaAfrica come about?

I had been working within the informal settlements around Kenya over the past three years and saw the amazing cultural capital of the goods produced by the artisan community there and the disproportionately low economic value placed on their work. I was determined to create the tools and services that could enable these women to expand their access to consumers in a lasting and sustainable manner.
